The climbing area to which this guidebook is dedicated is located in the south of the province of Teruel, and more specifically in the Alto Mijares region.
In this area we will find places with breathtaking landscapes where lush vegetation surrounds both paths along the Mijares river and its tributary, the Palomarejas.
Just a few meters from their confluence, there is a significant depression where the waters have eroded the land, exposing limestone rock walls ranging from 20 to 50 meters in height along the banks of both rivers.
These walls did not go unnoticed by certain climbers who, in the mid-1990s, recognized the possibilities they offered for climbing and began equipping the first routes in this area, located in the sectors now known as Obras Maestras and Central Park.
It was in 2012 that this gorge received a new boost from a few climbers from the nearest towns, discovering in each route a new incentive to continue opening new ones, driven by the quality of the rock and a privileged environment.
Just as the sectors developed, the number of route setters grew, adding the more than 400 routes that exist today. To achieve this, they worked hard to carve paths through previously almost inaccessible areas, level the base of the sectors, and place signs indicating access to the zones, leaving a wide range of routes for all tastes and all levels.
