Voytek Kurtyka-The Art of Freedom

Voytek Kurtyka is one of the greatest mountaineers of all time. Born in 1947, he was one of the lights of the golden age of Polish mountaineering in the Himalayas.

His visionary approach to the mountain allowed him to succeed in memorable ascents, including the first of " Shining Wall ", the western face of Gasherbrum IV, considered by many as the rise of the century in the Himalayas. The book leads us to the traces of the young Voytek, a supergifted and original climber who discovered winter mountaineering in the Tatra Mountains, in a community of mountaineers in rebellion against the communist regime, and then flew to the Himalayas.
