Your privacy

Your data is yours. Here is what we hold, why we hold it, how long for — and how to ask us for it, correct it or have it deleted.

In plain words

We are shops, not an advertising business. What we hold about you is what selling to you and looking after you afterwards actually requires — and none of it is sold on to anyone.

  • What we collect: your contact details, what you bought and where, your loyalty and gift-card balances, your after-sales files, and the e-mails you exchanged with us.
  • Why: to complete your order, honour a warranty or a repair, keep our accounts as the law requires, and — only if you asked for it — send you our news.
  • How long: as long as the reason lasts. An invoice is kept ten years because Belgian accounting law says so; you come off the marketing lists after three years without a sign of life.
  • Who sees it: our staff, and the suppliers who make the shop work — payment, delivery, e-mail, hosting. Each of them is listed in the policy below, and each is bound by contract.
  • What you can ask: a copy, a correction, a deletion, a portable file, or that we stop. It is free, and you do not need an account.

Where to go

Our policy

The full text: every purpose, every legal basis, every retention period and every recipient. It is the reference — this page is the short version.

Your cookies

Which cookies we set, what each one is for, and how to change your mind. Nothing beyond what makes the site work is set before you agree.

Your data

Ask for a copy, a correction or a deletion. No account needed. If you do have one, we will point you to it — the answer is instant there.

How a request goes

You fill in the form

Your name, your e-mail address and what you want. No identity document, and no account.

You confirm by e-mail

We send a link to that address. Clicking it proves the request is yours, and starts our one-month deadline.

We gather everything

A colleague goes through every place your data could be and rules on each one, by hand.

You get a written answer

Within a month, item by item: what we hold, what we did, and where we kept something, which rule required it.

Getting in touch

A question about your data, or about this page? Use our contact form — it reaches the people who handle these requests directly.

You may also write to us by post, at Lecomte Alpinisme & Randonnée, Rue de Piétrain 75-A, 1370 Jodoigne. Please include the e-mail address you would like us to answer to: our answers go out by e-mail, because they carry files that have no business travelling in an envelope.

You also have the right to complain to the supervisory authority: Autorité de protection des données, Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels — autoriteprotectiondonnees.be. Lodging a complaint with them costs nothing, and it does not stop you writing to us as well.
