The guide describes 45 day walks across eight zones of Gran Canaria, including Las Palmas in the north to Playa del Ingles in the south.
A five-day itinerary from ocean to ocean on the GR131, a long-distance trail from island to island that spans the seven Canary Islands, is also included.
There are walks suitable for all levels, ranging from coastal cliff scenery to spectacular volcanic mountains inland. Walks venture through villages and towns, and up to the summits of the highest peaks in Gran Canaria. Each walk provides information on access (primarily using the island's excellent bus services), details on places offering food and drink and notes on interesting features passed along the way. The book also provides plenty of background information on geology, wildlife, plants and flowers as well as practical information on accommodation, currency and language.
Gran Canaria is an extremely popular holiday destination, but despite this, it offers walkers many peaceful places to explore and truly beautiful and stunning scenery.
