The Terra Nova Voyager is a lightweight four-season, freestanding tent with an aerodynamic design that provides exceptional stability, making it a benchmark for trekking in exposed areas.
The 2023 version of this tent, compared to the 2022 version, incorporates a PFC-free inner tent with a DWR (C0) PFC-free water-repellent treatment, marking a significant shift in the use of chemicals in tent manufacturing, without the potential environmental side effects.
It is part of the "Classic Series" at Terra Nova, designed for medium to long-duration hikes in all seasons, offering an excellent balance between strength, durability, lightness, performance and comfort. The materials used, such as fabrics, poles and pegs, are of very high quality.
The Voyager is perfectly suited to experienced hikers as well as beginners in hiking and bivouacking, thanks to its highly acceptable weight (2 kg) and its sturdiness, which allows beginners to use it without risk of premature damage.
With its semi-geodesic shape, courtesy of its three poles crossing at three points, the Voyager is more stable and wind-resistant than a tunnel-shaped tent, while remaining freestanding with a competitive weight comparable to that of tunnel tents.
The Voyager is suited to a variety of activities such as hiking, kayaking, cycling and horse riding, for expeditions of 15 days to three weeks in destinations such as Norway or Argentina.
With a flysheet offering 5,000 mm waterproofing and a groundsheet of 10,000 mm, the Voyager provides reliable protection against the elements, far exceeding the standard 1,500 mm waterproofing rating of typical trekking tents. In this regard, Terra Nova is comparable to Hilleberg, both in the short and long term.
Pitching the tent is simple and quick: the inner tent is erected first, then the poles are threaded through the sleeves before placing the flysheet over the top. All that remains is to stake the tent into the ground.
For use in exposed environments, it is recommended to add guylines and additional pegs (sold separately) for even greater stability and resistance in extreme conditions.
