The La Sportiva Testarossa is a highly technical climbing shoe. It is the optimal result of a blend of synthetic and natural materials, making it the ideal compromise for a shoe that is comfortable on the foot yet highly aggressive, asymmetric and precise.
It offers exceptional precision and a very high level of sensitivity. As a technical climbing shoe, the Testarossa is fairly supple and allows you to feel the rock well. Its highly cambered shape provides good heel power, making it particularly effective on the smallest holds and smears.
For most climbers, it is very precise on overhangs and slabs; for a rare few, especially larger builds, it may feel a little soft. The asymmetric lacing is effective. It laces down very low and allows for optimal adjustment.
It generally stretches quite significantly, close to a full size. You should therefore size down noticeably in the shop. La Sportiva constructed this shoe by combining leather to maintain good breathability with Lorica (synthetic leather) to prevent excessive deformation over time on routes.
The Testarossa is versatile; it is a shoe that works just as well for bouldering as for outdoor sport climbing or indoor walls. Its asymmetric lacing, which extends "low" down the foot, allows for optimal foot wrap.
