It covers the trail from Plymouth to Poole along the Devon and Dorset coastline. This handy, compact booklet of Ordnance Survey maps at 1:25,000 shows the route and provides all the mapping you need to walk the trail in both directions.
Seasons: This national trail can be walked year-round: please note that accommodation availability in winter may be limited, while summer will be extremely busy and the weather often hot.
Centres: Many centres are passed along the route, including Plymouth, Salcombe, Brixham, Weymouth, Swanage and Poole. Difficulty: The South West Coast Path is a long walk!
Most of the paths are easy to moderate, with some walking along rugged and exposed coastal paths and steep gradients. Not to be missed: Exmoor National Park, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, numerous heritage coastlines, national and local nature reserves, Sites of Special Scientific Interest and National Trust properties.
