The province of Liège being renowned for its natural wealth of water, most of the routes will take you, at one point or another, along a waterway or in the vicinity of a body of water.
Base hikes of ±20 km, with variants that are sometimes slightly longer or shorter.
Please note: a second volume featuring sixteen additional hikes in the Liège region is also available.
Main features
A preference has been given to routes along the ridges, in order to let you discover vast panoramas:
- to the west, the fields of Hesbaye undulate into infinity,
- further south, in the Condroz, pastures and large deciduous forests take precedence over cultivated fields.
A very large number of castles bear witness to past wealth, - to the east, the Pays de Herve and Aubel is our bocage.
The orchards draw a checkerboard pattern across the slopes of beautiful valleys, - even further east, the wild moorlands of the Hautes Fagnes plateau stretch out.
This is the region of great lakes and nature reserves, - finally, the Ardenne liégeoise with its sumptuous rivers, impetuous, torrential at times, which powerfully carve the meanders of an intertwining network of deep valleys.
