Instructions for use:
To repair your Therm-a-Rest mattress, you will need:
- The repair kit
- A way to mark the location of the leak (marker, pen, or adhesive tape.)
- Scissors or another cutting tool.
Repairing large punctures and tears
1. Locate the damaged area.
2. Cut the patch into a circular shape approximately 2.5 cm (1 in.) larger than the damaged area.
3. Center the patch over the damaged area.
4. Using a ballpoint pen, trace the outline of the patch onto the mattress.
5. Apply the glue to the damaged area.
6. Using the tip of the tube, work the glue into the fabric fibers up to the traced mark.
7. Apply the patch, completely covering the glue.
8. Place the empty ziplock bag over the patch.
9. Place a flat-bottomed pot (or other flat object) on top of the patch; if necessary, add a little water to the pot to weigh it down.
10. Wait 22 hours without touching the mattress.
11. Close the valve and it is ready for use.
Repairing small punctures
1. Locate the leak:
a. Inflate the mattress by mouth as firmly as possible.
b. Fold the mattress in half to increase internal pressure.
c. Submerge the mattress in water or rub it with soapy water.
d. Small bubbles will allow you to locate the leak.
2. Mark the location of the puncture.
3. Allow the mattress to dry.
4. Open the valve.
5. Work a drop of glue into the puncture until the area turns dark.
6. Wait until the glue is dry to the touch (2 hours).
7. The mattress is ready.
