Altitude sickness is aimed at anyone who needs to spend time at altitude (tourists, hikers, trekkers, mountaineers, expedition members…) as well as healthcare professionals.

This book describes in a very accessible way the mechanisms of acclimatization of the human body at high altitude, as well as altitude-related illnesses, including in particular the well-known altitude sickness, cerebral edema and high altitude pulmonary edema.

The work, presented in the form of a practical guide, shares numerous tips as well as personal anecdotes, told by Michel Pellé, one of the first high mountain guides to have successfully organized commercial expeditions at very high altitude, including Everest.
