The mountain of mountains has been called "K2".
It is a pyramid 5 km wide and 3.5 km tall, a mass of gneiss, schist and granite equivalent to 37 Matterhorns, flanked to the west by a white pyramidal peak: the Angelus. One must imagine its summit not as a physical place, a meeting point of five ridges rising from China and Pakistan, but as a bubble. A space of non-life at the edge of the stratosphere where the air weighs three times less than at sea level, where the wind strikes with the violence of the jet stream. All the mountaineers who later manage to descend from it will express in their own way this sensation that no mountain in the world, not even Everest, provides with such intensity.
