The themed trail guide (GRT), THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES OF WALLONIA VIA THE GR TRAILS GTPBVW ® written in three volumes, invites you to explore Wallonia and its unique regions with the goal of discovering the 33 villages labelled "Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia" that are a source of pride for their residents and for Walloons who cherish their heritage. This route is based on the GR network and rolls out a red carpet stretching 1500 kilometres connecting these 33 villages of character. At wider intervals, a specific GTPBVW waymarker punctuates the route.
You will traverse magnificent landscapes and sometimes little-known areas that will, each time, lead you to discover enchanting places, nestled within a rich natural environment — preserved locations where the built heritage echoes the history of our ancestors.
The Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia via the GR Trails are at your feet…
Yours to enjoy!
Most of the paths used are based on the existing GR and GRP network. Routes, descriptions and detailed maps are available to you in this guide written in three volumes.
You can tailor your routes to suit your desires, by sections, by organising short stays or by targeting a specific region. The choice is yours! The key is to encourage everyone to travel as close to home as possible: where nature and its riches are found, around the corner of a trail or a narrow lane… the adventure begins and is accessible to all.
A table also lists the various options for reaching PBVW stages by train.
