Above all, avoid:

  • poles set too high;
  • excessive pushing backwards;

On easy terrain, many walkers keep poles in hand without any real need. The result: shoulders tire unnecessarily.

Sand and dust accelerate internal wear. Friction-based telescopic systems are particularly sensitive to this.

Also avoid damp storage in a cellar or car boot for several weeks.
