In an atmosphere where water is often omnipresent, sometimes scarce, we move from the granite plateau of Sidobre, where granite boulders and giants are scattered throughout a sparse forest, to a mountain of denser forest that reaches nearly 1,300 m.

The heathlands and dry grasslands of the summits, cliffs and rocky outcrops give way to the mysterious peat bogs. The waterways, meanwhile, carve wild and deeply-cut valleys and feed the plateau lakes. The trace of Man is present everywhere in this landscape, from the menhir statues to the Way of Saint James and the granite quarries.
