Long routes, alpine terrain, heavy equipment, ... The ideal scenario!
They say athletes must be willing to get wet to reach the summit… But they also want to keep their feet dry!
The solution: TIBET GTX. For via ferrata, multi-day routes in the Alps or hard terrain, the Vibram® MASAI rubber outsole accompanies you on all types of terrain. The rubber rand of the shoe effectively protects against stones and debris.
The TIBET GTX model is equipped with a CLIMBING ZONE: the flattened shape of the forefoot area of the outsole facilitates progress on simple climbing routes.
The high-performance VIBRAM® Masai outsole is perfect for use in alpine terrain. The Climbing Zone at the front of the outsole helps stabilize progress on steep rock faces. Furthermore, its lugs eliminate dirt and debris while walking, and its pronounced heel makes descents more comfortable.
Guaranteed protection against the elements, even in heavy rain or snowfall: the TIBET GTX model is equipped with a GORE-TEX membrane. This innovative technology makes the shoes waterproof and breathable.
Featuring a two-zone lacing technology, the TIBET GTX model includes separate lacing zones on the forefoot and the upper. This allows the shoe to be customized to individual foot anatomy and laced differently for ascents or descents.
Large panels are used in the construction of the TIBET GTX upper to avoid seams and overlapping materials. This feature minimizes friction zones and considerably improves walking comfort.
Lock, tie, done! Lacing on the TIBET GTX model is simplified by a locking cinch hook, developed by LOWA for two-zone lacing. Once the laces have been tightened in the lower part of the shoe, they can be locked using this hook.
By simply pushing the hook loops upward, the laces loosen and the instep area can be unlaced.
To allow the laces to pass and slide without friction through the eyelets of the TIBET GTX model, the metal rings contain small beads that minimize friction.
The tongue stays in place without slipping or creating uncomfortable pressure points: for the TIBET GTX model, LOWA has opted for X-LACING® technology. This special lacing system secures the tongue both vertically and horizontally.
As it is independent of the individual instep height, the shoe remains adaptable to all foot anatomies. Thanks to this technology, the pressure of the laces is not solely exerted on the cinch hooks, but distributed evenly across the entire tongue.
When the upper of a shoe is flexible, the foot rolls more naturally during walking, allowing the user to conserve energy (especially on ascents) and benefit from increased comfort.
For the TIBET GTX model, LOWA has therefore incorporated a flex section and a Lace Loop fastening system in this flex zone. This technology includes mobile eyelets and a flexible lace guide hook to improve heel hold and facilitate foot flexion.
The special tongue of the TIBET GTX model noticeably improves the comfort of the shoe. For example, the tongue is more padded on the outer side of the foot and features a soft tip on top.
This asymmetric padding ensures effective support of the different zones of the foot. To respect the anatomy of the foot, the ankle recesses are positioned slightly higher on the inner side of the shoe than on the outer side. A flexible fold has also been integrated on the inner side of the foot.
Main features
- Versatility: generally speaking, the ideal shoe for via ferrata is a versatile model: you may encounter rocky surfaces, ladders, but also mountain trails, meadows and hiking paths.
- Torsional rigidity: to move for long hours or cross difficult passages, you will need good stability. Via ferrata shoes resist torsion and do not slip under the load of your weight.
- Durable waterproofing
- Climbing Zone: part at the front of the sole, specially designed to provide optimal stability on simple climbing routes
- Minimal Seams: avoids unnecessary seams to reduce friction areas
- X-Lacing®: tongue retention
- Roller Eyelets: minimization of friction
- I-Lock: special hooks to divide the lacing into two zones and tighten the laces separately
- Flexfit®: heel support and facilitation of foot flexion
- C4-Tongue: respect for foot anatomy
- Two Zone Lacing: maximum lacing adaptability
- Stiff: the structure of the shoe gives it strong resistance to deformation
- Resoleable
