Wallonia has no mountains in the Alpine sense of the term, but there is no shortage of climbs, especially east of the Meuse, in the Ardennes forest massif. Hence the idea of linking, over 225 kilometres, the three highest points of the provinces of the Walloon Ardennes via existing and waymarked Long Distance Footpaths.
After "the GRT Footpath of the Trappist Abbeys of Wallonia (S.A.T.)", "The GRT Footpath of the Ardennes Heights" is the second thematic route of the SGR. Fully waymarked, it can be completed at your own pace, according to your mood, your fitness, the weather… alone, with family, with friends, whenever you wish, in whichever direction you choose, as the route is described in both directions.
The description of the S.M.A. contains cross-references indicated in green by a number in brackets. The reader will find the relevant notes for these references at the end of the document.
