The "Tour of Belgian Luxembourg" starts from Neufchâteau, reaches Libramont via the Recogne plateau, then, through the woods, follows the Lomme towards Poix-Saint-Hubert and Mirwart. After Nassogne, it arrives at Marche-en-Famenne. From there, it heads towards Sibret, enters the Anlier forest and follows the Sûre for a long stretch to Martelange. It then travels through the forest again towards Habay, Marbehan and Rossignol. And back into the forest, it returns to Neufchâteau, passing through Suxy.
For this second edition, two long variants have been added. The first, running broadly north to south, starts from the discreet Saint-Joseph des Bois chapel in Chenogne and joins Marbehan over 49 kilometres. The second, oriented east-west, departs from Bodange and, after 34 kilometres, reaches Neufchâteau. These two variants cross the Ardennes plateaus with their sweeping open landscapes.
Along its western route, the GR® approaches railway lines 162 and 43: marked connections lead to the stations of Marbehan, Libramont, Grupont, Forrières, Rochefort-Jemelle, Marloie and Marche.
On foot, hiking, it takes several weeks to discover Belgian Luxembourg, slowly, calmly, peacefully: the "beautiful green province" can only be tamed by those who are willing to take the time to encounter it beyond the clichés.
A world of many faces, it is not just dark forests, elusive wild boar, and windswept horizons. It is of course a land of woodlands, meadows, streams and quiet villages, but also of surprises.
They reveal themselves in places such as the Celtic Museum (Libramont) or the FAM (Marche), exceptional churches such as the one in Waha, and history-laden castles: Mirwart, Pont d'Oye and the ramparts of Neufchâteau stand as testimony to this. And also in the traces of an industrial past: the slate quarries of Martelange, the forges of Habay, the mills of Poix-Saint-Hubert… among so many others.
Today, the economy of Belgian Luxembourg is rather lively and dynamic. But above all, the "beautiful province" is rich in its quality of life.
