You will explore the picturesque corners and historic buildings of Diest, travelling through the rolling landscape of the Hageland, the forests and valleys of Brabant, the tradition-rich Pajottenland and the Dendre valley. Your path will take you past the castles of Horst, Beersel and Gaasbeek and the traditional square farmhouses. You walk among majestic trees in the Walenbos, Meerdaalwoud, Zoniënwoud, Neigembos and Raspaillebos. The protected nature reserves of the Dyle, IJse and Senne valleys will undoubtedly capture your attention.
Via Gaasbeek and Wavre-Notre-Dame, Lombeek, some of the most beautiful villages in Flanders, you reach the Muur van Geraardsbergen and its monumental urban beauty on the market square.
In the accompanying guidebook, the 173 km long route is divided into 4 parts, with each part divided into day-long stages. We have opted for an average walking day of approximately 20 km, taking maximum account of public transport connections and nearby accommodation. This way, you can complete the entire Brabantse Heuvelroute itinerary in 9 days.
