The 3-layer fabrics conforming to the standard H2No™ are waterproof, windproof and breathable thanks to an innovative combination of elements: a water-repellent outer fabric, a rolled waterproof/breathing membrane and an ultra-light inner fabric. The assembly is highly compressible, waterproof, windproof, breathable and designed to withstand extreme environments. Standard-compliant 3-layer fabrics H2No™ are designed for prolonged use in extreme climatic conditions

These fabrics are coated with a durable water repellent primer (DWR) that repels light rain and snow. In addition to the waterproof/breathable membrane, the durable water-repellent primer (DWR) prevents the tissue from saturating with moisture so that the breathing membrane can function properly.

All stamped products H2No™ are subjected to very extensive impermeability tests during an extreme washing cycle ("Killer Wash") of 24 hours which simulates years of use. This process consists in exposing the fabric to extreme conditions for 24 consecutive hours in a modified washing machine.

The H2No™ performance standard is the Patagonia reference for waterproofing, breathability and durability. It ensures a high level of long-term performance, covered by the Patagonia Absolute Guarantee. Products complying with the performance standard H2No™ are subject to the most rigorous tests in the industry. The H2No™ performance standard for waterproof clothing is 20 000 mm * before washing and 10 000 mm * after extreme washing (according to JIS L 1092 B test).
